International Women’s Day Portrait Series in OTtawa, Canada
A project by Amanda Thirkill
Celebrating women in the Ottawa community through an elevated portrait experience in Ottawa.
The International Women’s Day Portrait Series is a project that celebrates inspiring women in Ottawa. Driven by a team of all-women creatives, we use our work to celebrate and spotlight women we want more people in our orbits to know.
What began as a small creative experiment — inviting five women I admired into my studio to share portraits and reflections — has grown into an annual collaborative initiative rooted in connection and community. Each year, the project has expanded alongside an incredible all-women creative team, deepening both the experience and the impact for everyone involved.
At its heart, this project is about representation, connection, and community — fostering a network of women we want others to know, learn from, hire, collaborate with, and celebrate together.

Nominate an outstanding woman.
Each woman we feature is someone we’d love more people in the Ottawa community to recognize and celebrate. We’re on the lookout for more women in our community to feature in this series each year.
