A Manitoulin getaway at Sandhill House, Ten Mile Point

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to escape to the Sandhill House, hosted by Ten Mile Point Accommodations, to capture the experience owners Laura & Blair have created for their guests on Manitoulin Island.

The Sandhill House stands adjacent to Manitoulin's infamous Ten Mile Point Lookout overlooking the La Cloche Mountains and Georgian Bay. It's just a 10-minute drive past the Swing Bridge in Little Current, but once we arrived, it felt like we'd escaped far away to our own little planet for the weekend.

I love what Laura & Blair have done to share this breathtaking view with their guests. Throughout the weekend, we could feel the intention behind every detail in the space, my favourite being the huge windows that showcased the views, while keeping the space feeling private and secluded. We watched the most beautiful sunrises, gazed at the stars, and observed as the pink and blue clouds rolled by us. There was something different to see at every hour of the day.

Inside the cabin, we felt spoiled with comfort; the fireplace, the warm wood tones and super tall ceilings, the comfortable beds, and the biggest, brightest shower, ever. The full kitchen was super useful for us to cook all our favourite meals together, and possibly the best part of the kitchen were the Ten Mile Point Pilsners waiting for us in the fridge (from down the road at Manitoulin Brewing, of course!).

The Sandhill House is part of a group of minimalist cabins on the property, allowing visitors from all over to enjoy the beauty of Manitoulin Island that everyone’s always talking about. Janik, Andrew, Alemayhu and I are SO grateful for the opportunity to spend time at the Sandhill House and are so excited for the day we return. Thank you, Laura & Blair!
